Hi :) I'm Lisa

Welcome to my web site. My name is Lisa Rodgers (formerly Behenna) and I am a hobbyist cake decorator. I would love to some day go professional, but for now it's just a hobby out of my home. Four years ago I left my full time job as a graphic artist/web designer to be a stay at home mom to my three boys. I am enjoying being a mother more than anything.

Cake decorating is a form of art for me. I have no culinary training, but have been told my cakes are moist and wonderful. I focus most on the art work for the cakes, fondant, buttercream, sculpting, etc.

History

I got my start in cake decorating when I was in high school and worked for Baskin Robbins. It is there where I learned to make ice cream cakes. I was taught how to use a pastry bag, frost a cake and make flowers. I really enjoyed all aspects of cake decorating at that point. When I got a little older I expressed an interest in cake decorating to my grandmother, who was also a cake decorating hobbyist. She and my Sister-In-Law helped me make a three tier wedding cake for my parent's 25th wedding anniversary. I really enjoyed working with her and learning some tips and tricks. At that time she was not really making cakes anymore and so she handed down all of her cake supplies and books to me. Since then I started making cakes for friend's birthdays, then co-worker's birthdays and suddenly people started requesting cake orders for their family and friends. The next thing I know I've got a little business going.

Take a look at my gallery to see some of the cakes I've made.

I'm also into crafting and have a crafting/tips & tricks blog site: shescraftyllc.com. If you are into crafts you should check it out! I have a shop on ETSY as well.
